The heat exchanger consists of a plate heat exchanger, which’s capacity ranges according to the system’s water flow and temperature conditions.

By salt water systems the plates in the heat exchanger is made by Titanium, which is the most corrotion resistant stainless steel.

The heat exchanger is built in a cabinet made by stainless steel AISI 316. Cabinet dimensions depends on the exchangers capacity.

The exchanger is mounted with closing valves inlet and outlet, as well as valves for by-pass water flow. Valves for rinsing through the exchanger and sensor pockets for temperature sensors.

The by-pass valves make sure, that the water change does not disconnect, while cleaning or repairing the heat exchanger. Furthermore the by-pass valves are used in periods, when the temperature conditions make it inexpedient to use recovery.

The rinsing valves are used for cleaning the heat exchanger. A layer of algae and other pollution can be accumulated on the innerside of the plates. This can be removed by rinsing through the exchanger.

On inlet pipes for proceed water and outlet pipes for replacement water are placed sensor pockets, so it is possible to follow the temperature course in the exchanger.

Extra accessories

Besides the mentioned components the exchanger can be mounted with:

Temperature regulator with alarm function: Sensors registrates the temperature course for proceed water and replacement water, if any disproportion should appear between the two temperatures the alarm goes off.

Connection plugs for difference pressure control, also for difference control, which alarms, if deposits start to block up the heat exchanger.

The exchanger is mounted with closing valves inlet and outlet, also a 3/2 ways regulation valve, which controls the exchangers cooling capacity.

The rinsing valves are used for cleaning the heat exchanger. A layer of algae and other pollution can be accumulated on the innerside of the plates. This can be removed by rinsing through the exchanger.

Control panel

Description control panel
When the control panel is connected, the temperature sensor registrates the outlet temperature from the exchanger. If the temperature is higher than the preset temperature on the temperature regulator, a signal is given to the 3/2 ways regulation valve to increase the flow of cooling water. If the outlet temperature decreases the regulation valve will reduce the flow of cooling water.

If the difference between the actual temperature and the preset temperature is more than 20C, an alarm goes off.

The exchanger is mounted with closing valves inlet and outlet, also closing valves for inlet – and return pipes for heating and cooling water. Rinsing valves on salt water side and sensor pockets for temperature regulation.

Valves with servo motor are mounted on pipes for heat and cool medias, which make sure that the two medias cannot be mixed.

Control panel

Description control panel
Choose on the control panel if the exchanger must be used for cooling or heating. Normally all inlet valves are closed.
E.g. if the system is set for cooling – test is made that both valves on heat inlet are closed. Circulation pump starts, and valves cooling inlet are opened. The temperature regulation gives signal to the 3/2 ways regulation valve to increase the flow on the cooling water, if the heat exchangers outlet temperature are higher than the preset temperature, or to close the flow of cooling water, if the temperature is lower than the preset temperature.

If the system is set for heating – test is made that valves for cooling inlet are closed. Circulation pump starts and valves for the heating water are opened. The temperature regulator gives signal to the 3/2 ways valve to decrease the flow of heating water, if the heat exchangers outlet temperature are highter than the preset temperature, or to increase the flow of heating water, if the temperature is lower than the preset temperature.

If the exchanger switch is set on ”0” the circulation pump stops and inlet of cooling and heating water are closed.

The control panel is delivered with potential free switch, which set off the alarm, if the temperature on outlet water from the heat exchanger differs more than 20C.
